Richmond artists, Nicole Maslowski and Claire McCarty have collaborated on a new collection blending the best of their own lines, Maslo Jewelry and Bear Ceramics. These new pieces combine Nicole’s minimalist metals and cords with Claire’s handmade ceramic beads to create one-of-a-kind wearable works of art.
Quirk is honored to host the launch of this collaborative collection with a special trunk show event on Friday, January 27 from 6 – 9 pm. Kick off your weekend with a bit of champagne and shopping!
Maslo Jewelry is a product line focused on creating simple, but statement pieces of jewelry. Nicole Maslowski founded the brand in 2003 after finishing her studies in Graphic Design and realizing she wanted to work with her hands to create something tangible. Each offering from the collection results from willful restraint and purposeful intent, born from an attraction to minimal style and simple, classic design. Every piece is made, by hand, in her Richmond, VA studio.
About Bear Ceramics:
Claire Jensen is an Artist, Maker, and Educator. She lives and works in Richmond, VA teaching ceramics and photography at a high school as well as at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. She grew up in Harrisonburg, VA in the foothills of the Alleghany and Appalachian mountains, which afforded her a deep appreciation of nature and the beauty in all things organic. She works predominantly with clay; drawn to its raw origins and tangible possibilities. From jewelry and accessories, to tableware and sculpture, Claire pursues the notion of creating wearable and functional art. She strives to bring art into the every day, whether it is dressing for a routine work day or a special event, eating your morning breakfast or setting the table for a gathering of friends. Her aspiration is for her ceramic pieces to enhance the aesthetics of life.
