Two popular Richmond brands, Molly Virginia Made and Handy Ma’am Goods, will be teaming up for a one-day-only trunk show event at Quirk Saturday, November 19 from 11 am – 5 pm.
Molly Virginia Made (MVM) aims for a simple and modern aesthetic, using only a fluid melding of colors to contrast the straightforward lines of each leather design. MVM was created for the badass woman who’s ready for a completely unique, handcrafted bag of her own: she doesn’t want what everyone else already has, dammit. Molly Campbell began MVM in 2015 with the intent to create to unique and totally individualized leather goods. Influenced by the organic lines, colors and shapes of the James River and the rolling deep purple-blues of the Appalachian Mountains, Molly Virginia Made really is Virginia made. The artist’s Richmond-based studio is filled with fresh dyes, natural untreated leathers, thirsty plants and simply framed, often quirky pencil drawings. For Molly, leather is just a new, barely explored canvas.
Bella Weinstein began Handy Ma’am Goods with a small run of coveralls in 2015. Today, in addition to her popular coveralls, Bella’s line incorporates bandanas, t-shirts, and the “drapon”, a combination cotton and water repellant duck canvas dress that is as adorable as it is functional. Handy Ma’am Goods was established on the idea that “women have a long but seldom recognized place in trade work and it’s about time [they] have proper workwear that is not only functional but feminine. Drawing on inspiration from vintage workwear, Handy Ma’am Goods is about creating new classics with modern ingenuity. Fit and quality are [the] top priorities, every pocket has been carefully placed and every seam tested.”
All the newest styles and pieces from MVM will be available at our trunk show event. Come meet these local makers and pick out some new classics for yourself orto give as a great holiday gift.
